Upholstered Furniture Spring Mattress
Upholstered furniture-Spring mattress
This standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T1952.1-2009.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. The issuing authority of this document shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This standard is a revision of QB 1952.2-2004. Compared with QB 1952.2-2004, the main technical changes are as follows:
— Modified the scope, removed the reference to palm fiber mattresses and the exclusion of waterbeds and airbeds;
— Modified the terms and definitions, removed the definitions of spring coverage and compression, and added the definition of border height;
— Modified the width code of mattresses, added codes for surface height, border height, hardness, and related changes;
— Added classification based on the softness/hardness of the product surface and hardness grade;
— Modified the dimensional deviation requirements for length and height;
— Modified the sewing and edging requirements for the surface, and removed the grading items in the project classification;
— Removed the provisions for fabric weight, foam plastic density, composite fabric, and total weight of padding materials;
— Added requirements and test methods for anti-mite performance of mattresses;
— Modified the formaldehyde emission requirements and test methods;
— Modified the evaluation method for flame retardant performance;
— Modified the durability requirements and test methods;
This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Furniture Standardization Center.
This standard replaces QB 1952.2-2004.
The historical versions of QB 1952.2-2004 are as follows:
— ZB/TY 81002.2-1989, QB/T 3661.2-1999;

3 Terms and definitions, codes
3.1 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1.1
spring mattress
A sleeping appliance with springs and soft padding materials as the core, covered with fabric or soft matting materials on the surface.
3.1.2
helical coiler
A cylindrical helical spring made of steel wire for connection purposes.
3.1.3
pocketed spring
A spring covered with a fabric pocket.
3.1.4
continuous spring
A spring made from one or several steel wires wound into an interlocking structure.
3.1.5
spring unit
An elastic assembly formed by connecting bonnell springs or continuous springs or pocketed springs with helical coilers or other materials.
3.1.6
topbond
A composite formed by quilting the textile fabric on the mattress surface with foam plastic, padding fiber, non-woven fabric, and other materials.
3.1.7
insulator
Padding materials located between the topbond and the spring unit, including foam plastic, plastic mesh, hemp felt (cloth), palm fiber pad, chemical fiber (cotton) felt, coir pad, and other materials.
3.1.8
tap edge
A linear edge strip formed by sewing the topbond of the mattress with the surrounding composite materials.
3.1.9
border
The part of the mattress periphery between the upper and lower stitching lines, similar in thickness.
3.1.10
border height
The distance between the lower stitching line and the upper stitching line of the border.
3.1.11
height of mattress surface
The distance from the lower surface of the circular pad (6.2.5) to the reference surface of the mattress (e.g., the upper surface of a flat plate) when a vertical downward force of 4N is applied to the mattress through the circular pad on the mattress surface.
3.1.12
rusty corrosion
Corrosion phenomenon on the surface of steel wire due to rusting.
3.2 Codes
The following codes apply to this standard, as shown in Table 1.
| Name | Code | Name | Code | Name | Code | ||
| Mattress length | L | Mattress width | W | Mattress height | H | ||
| Length deviation | ΔL | Width deviation | ΔW | Height deviation | ΔH | ||
| Hardness | HY | Hardness grade | HS | Surface height | Hd | ||
| Hardness change | HYn | Hardness grade change | Hsn | Border height | Hw |
Note 1: A horizontal line above the code (e.g., ) indicates the mean value of that code. Note 2: The subscript n in codes Hw, HS, HY, hd indicates the data measured at a certain stage; when it is the first stage, it is 1. |
